Nothing leaves your phone.

Puppy Eyes is a diary for your dog. The photos, notes, clips, films and stickers you make live in the app on your phone. We don't run servers that receive them, we don't have an account system, and we don't use analytics or advertising software. This page explains the few places your data can go, all of them under your control.

What the app stores, and where

Everything you add is stored in the app's own storage on your device: photos and one-second clips, notes, moods, tags, milestones, films the app has rendered, stickers, and your dog's profile (name, breed, birthday, gotcha day, photo). Widgets and the Messages sticker extension read a small copy of this data from a shared container on the same device.

Photos

With your permission, Puppy Eyes reads your photo library to find photos of your dog, on this phone, using Apple's Vision framework. The scan runs entirely on the device. Only the photos you tick are copied into the diary. You can choose limited access, and you can turn access off at any time in iOS Settings. Saving a film or card to your library uses add-only access.

iCloud

If you're signed in to iCloud on your phone, the diary syncs through your own private iCloud database so it's backed up and appears on your other devices. This is Apple's CloudKit service, tied to your Apple Account, and we can't read it. Photos count towards your iCloud storage. You can turn this off in the app under Settings, "Sync with iCloud", and the diary stays on the phone only. Anything already synced stays in your iCloud until you remove it in iOS Settings under Manage Storage.

On-device intelligence

Dog detection, best-photo selection, scene tags, sticker cut-outs and, on supported phones, suggested captions all use Apple frameworks that run on the device. No image or text is sent to us or to any third party.

Purchases

Puppy Eyes Pro is sold through Apple's in-app purchase system. Apple handles payment and gives the app a receipt that says whether Pro is active. We don't see your name, card or address.

Notifications

Daily reminders and "your film is ready" notifications are scheduled locally on your phone. No push server is involved, and you can turn them off in the app or in iOS Settings.

Export and deletion

Export gives you every photo, clip and note as plain files in a zip, free, whenever you like. Deleting the app deletes the diary from the phone. To remove synced data as well, delete it in the app before uninstalling, or manage Puppy Eyes data under iCloud in iOS Settings.

What we collect

Nothing, by default. If you email us for support, we'll have your email address and whatever you tell us, and we use it only to reply. Apple may share aggregate, anonymised crash and usage statistics with us if you've opted in to that in iOS Settings; those contain no diary content.

Children

Puppy Eyes isn't directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect anything from them.

Changes

If this policy changes we'll update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will be noted in the app.
